Luchadoras De Las Delicias Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy corn, plastic containers, and ingredients for preparing snacks.

Luchadoras De Las Delicias Group's story

Marta is 33 years old. Like some women, she grew up in need and had difficulties while receiving a primary school education. She is now married and has a daughter who has access to a formal education. Marta has managed her business successfully while taking care of her family.

Marta sells corn tortillas, plastic containers, and snacks. After the country reopened in September 2020 once the strongest wave of COVID-19 had passed, Marta was able to move forward with her business. For this reason, she is currently requesting her third Kiva loan in order to buy inventory for her business.

There are eight Maya K’iche’ women who make up the Communal Trust Bank “Luchadoras de Las Delicias”, which is established in the State of Quetzaltenango. The women attend monthly meetings that include an educational seminar that is part of the “Microcredit Plus” program that offers loans, education, and health care. These seminars will cover one of four themes: health, family, women’s issues, and business. Marta indicated, “During the time of coronavirus, the topic of good financial investment was very important since we need to generate income and not lose our small businesses.”

The Kiva lenders are greatly valued and appreciated for the support they have given to women who live in the rural areas of Guatemala. Thank you all!
