01_Thioupame Popenguine Group's story

EstabIished in the area in May 2013, this banc villageois is made up of four women who live in the same village and who maintain strong ties of family, community and solidarity. Their main activity is trade. They have repaid more than ten loans without difficulty.

Madame Rokhaya, age 62, is the representative. She is standing on left of the photo with her hand raised. She is married and the mother of seven grown children—four boys and three girls, one of whom is a student.

Madame Rokhaya sells dyed fabrics, incense and shea butter. She imports her goods and works in her neighbourhood from her home. She has more than 15 years of valuable experience in this area.

With her loan, she plans to buy bulk quantities of dyed fabrics, incense and shea butter. Madame Rokhaya manages her business well; she has a good customer base and is known in her community for the quality of her goods.

With her profits, she will be able to save at the banc villageois, pay for her daughter's school fees and refit her home with tiles.
