Evangeline is a resident of Concepcion, Iloilo. She is 48 years old, married and has six children. To earn an income, she runs a sari-sari (variety) store, selling basic commodities. She has been in this business for many years. Meanwhile, her husband works as a fisherman to provide their family’s need. Now she asks for a loan of PHP30, 000 through Kiva’s field partner CEV, (A Microfinance NGO) in the Philippines which she will use to buy assorted grocery items like toiletries, snack foods, canned goods, noodles, eggs, spices and drinks. The rest of the loan will be used to buy fishing boat for her husband to use in fishing. She wants to expand her store and become productive in the future in the future.
