Selina Lelong's story

Selina Lelong lives in a rural district that takes about 15 to 20 minutes drive to Port Vila city. Her community is very small, and the main industry is agriculture.

During this Covid-19 pandemic it has been difficult to earn a stable income. Selina Lelong is 58 years of age with four grown-up children. She is happily married; her husband is self-employed, and both of them do catering for business houses or for a family. She lives with her husband and daughter in their own home.

Selina Lelong has requested a loan to help her purchase raw materials and ingredients which she needs to produce customer orders in the most delicious way. She has been in the catering business for over nine years. Selina Lelong always targeted the locals on a cruise ship day but as Vanuatu's tourism sector been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, she now targets the locals for weddings, fundraising and parties.

She also has her husband cutting lawns with her string grass cutter. Selina Lelong will use her revenue earned to build home units which she can earn more income from. She strives to become a successful businesswoman.
