Leipakoa's story

Leipakoa is a 21-year-old mother of one, a son who is 1 year old. Leipakoa is currently pregnant with her second child. She has a partner who is unemployed and helps her with her business. Leipakoa lives with her partner and child in their own home which is located in a rural area just a 10-minute drive from Port Vila's international airport. Leipakoa's community is not very large and the main industries are fishing and agriculture. During the Covid-19 pandemic, it has been hard to earn a stable income.

Leipakoa has requested a loan to help her purchase bags of kava which she will use to produce kava juice in certain kilos for her valuable customers. Kava is a traditional drink that is drunk on special occasions. It is also used in social activities that one can have after a hard day at work.

Leipakoa wants to relocate her Kava bar to be situated near the main road. This will attract more customers so she can increase her revenue. She will use the increased income to provide the best education for her child and a better living for her family.
