A loan helped to purchase slippers and assorted other items to increase her business.

Fatmata's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 38-year-old Fatmata from Aberdeen. She is married and has two children, ages 15 and 21, one of whom is attending school. She started her business to be financially stable and support herself.

Fatmata runs a retail shop where she sells slippers and assorted other items. She has been in this business for the past five years. Her other source of income is her husband’s business. Her main challenge is slow sales sometimes due to COVID-19.

Fatmata requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase slippers and assorted other items to increase her business. She says that the extra income from this loan will help her improve her business and take care of her family and her children’s education. In the future, she would like to grow her business further. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
