Kristen's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped our small farm increase our land base and grow more sustainably.
My name is Kristen, and my love for farming and growing food began at an early age as I worked alongside my family on the organic fruit farm where I grew up in Western Colorado. Working on a number of organic farms over the years has solidified my love for farming, and helped me build a foundation of organic farming skills. Farm work led me to the human I now share my life with, Zach, who has numerous skills in business & project management, and a background in the agriculture and foodservice industry. We have owned and managed Bug Farms for two years now, and the model of this business has enabled us to begin farming with immediate and affordable access to land (open space and backyards in our neighborhood), with a huge amount of support from our neighbors and community. We find joy in working with our friends and neighbors, and in working hard to build & maintain healthy urban soils and green spaces that produce good food. Our hope for the future is to continue working together and to provide a living for our family through farming. We want to continue to keep open urban spaces thriving as growing spaces and to eventually open a neighborhood farm stand, and maybe even a small plant nursery to provide vegetable transplants to our community.
