Gulnora's story

This photo shows a talented Tajik woman, Gulnora, from the picturesque town of Isfara, Tajikistan. She is 59 years old. She is a widow with 5 children.

Gulnora has been engaged in embroidery for many years. Since childhood she has had a great interest in embroidering unusual and colorful designs and in creating complex styles and patterns. She began to create unusual and beautiful ornaments on dresses and fabrics. She creates national dresses, blankets, pillows, and tablecloths with individual tailoring and ornaments. Some of her works occur across many cultures, while other are specific to region. Her favorite job brings her stable income.

Gulnora wants to expand her business which describes the national trait of the Tajik people, and wants more people to know about this art of embroidery.

Gulnora is a returning borrower and has positive credit history. She is asking for a loan with Kiva’s partner, IMON, for the sixth time. This loan will give her the opportunity to expand her business and purchase a modern sewing machine and necessary fabrics and threads for sewing, to attract more clients and increase income. She hopes for your funding in this important matter.
