Philomena's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farming inputs, which she will use to improve her production and make more income to support her family.

Philomena's story

Philomena is a 52-year-old mother with three children. She lives in Kapsowar, a town that was significantly struck by the 2007–2008 crisis when violence occurred in Kenya. Philomena is a mixed dairy and crop farmer, who has been farming for the past thirty years. Through farming, she has made her life meaningful.

Juhudi Kilimo’s partnership with Kiva is an effective tool for reducing poverty in Kenya, especially among women, since it is one of the central actors in the rural areas.

Philomena is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs, which she will use to improve her production and make more income to support her family. Supporting Philomena with a loan will be key in facing the financial crisis that resulted from the Covid-19 pandemic.
