A loan helped to buy farming inputs, which she will use to improve her production and make more income to support her family during this tough global economic recession.

Betty's story

Betty is a 33-year-old mother of two children living in Eldoret, a town that was significantly stuck by the 2007–2008 Kenyan crisis when violence occurred in Kenya. She is a mixed dairy and crop farmer who has been in this business for the past ten years. Through farming, she has been able to meet the basic needs of her family.

The COVID-19 pandemic has posed a significant threat on the economy of Kenya, causing a lot of uncertainties and disrupting food supply chains. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is on the forefront line in combating this pandemic through supporting smallholder farmers and micro-entrepreneurs in this difficult period.

Betty is requesting this loan to buy farming inputs, which she will use to improve her production and make more income to support her family during this tough global economic recession.
