A loan helped to buy farming inputs that she plans to use to improve her farm production, which has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Emily's story

Emily is a 49-year-old mother of three children. She believes that success has no shortcuts and is only achieved through hard work. She lives in Litein, a town surrounded by prime agricultural lands that favor large-scale grain, dairy, and horticultural farming. She is a mixed farmer with 10 years of farming experience. Through farming, Emily has turned her life around.

The major impediment to the development of smallholder farms in Kenya is the lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support smallholder farmers in Kenya through financing, therefore guaranteeing their survival.

Emily is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs that she plans to use to improve her farm production, which has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Kindly support Emily in this first quarter of 2021.
