A loan helped to buy farm inputs, such as seeds, fertilizer, herbicide, and pesticide.

Monica's story

Monica is a 41-year-old mother of five who has wide experience in crop and dairy farming. She has mastered farming activities such as growing, caring, and harvesting, and earns income from her crops as well. Monica lives with her family in Kapcherop. This town has surroundings that have vast agricultural potential with numerous small farms, and also larger agricultural enterprises.

Access to modern-quality farm inputs is the pillar of agricultural success. However, in the developing country of Kenya, fertilizer and seed allocation by the government is way below the needs of farmers. Since Juhudi Kilimo, (a Kiva field partner) ventured into the affairs of smallholder farmers in Kenya, farmers can attest that there has been a significant improvement on input availability.

Monica is requesting a loan to buy farm inputs, such as seeds, fertilizer, herbicide, and pesticide. Your loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs. Support her in this time when the Covid-19 pandemic has affected food systems, food security, and agricultural livelihoods.
