Laura Alejandra's story

Laura Alejandra is a microentrepreneur 20 years of age from the city of Cartagena, where she lives with her family. She has two years' experience selling supplies to tailoring/dressmaking workshops, such as buttons in a variety of colours, ribbon, cord, zipper pulls in different colours, decorative studs, and needles among other things. Her idea for the business came about because her mother has a dressmaking workshop and since she was a very young girl helped her in the business. When she finished her high school diploma she did a dressmaking course and her parents gave her capital to help her start her own business; she decided to invest in tailoring/dressmaking supplies, since her mother already had a workshop and also knew many people in the sector to whom she could offer her products. This business has allowed her to contribute to the sustenance of her life, business and family.

Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic the amount of business decreased for reasons of biosecurity, and her income diminished drastically; for this reason she joined the Cartagena program to request her first loan with Fundación Santo domingo, with the purpose of investing in the purchase of threads, lace, buttons, zipper pulls, and other things. Support her in this loan for her business.
