Oscar Javier's story

Oscar Javier is a 46-year-old small business owner and resident of the town of Soledad. He owns a business breeding and selling live chickens and pigs. He has more than 2 years of experience and operation in this work. There he offers pigs and chickens for sale.

His business idea came about in the month of January when he decided to make breeding chickens his main business since it offers him a better profit margin. Oscar Javier has restaurants and farms as his customers.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic that occurred around the world, his level of work declined due to biosafety reasons and his cash flow drastically decreased. This is the reason he became involved with the program Atlántico Responde [Atlántico Responds] to request his first Kiva loan with Fundación Santo Domingo in order to invest in buying live pigs.
