Miriam's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy fertilizer and seeds to improve her crop production.

Miriam's story

Miriam (34) is the woman in the photo. She is a polite, devoted, responsible, and hardworking mother. Miriam raises animals and cultivates different crops.

Miriam started doing this type of work out of financial necessity. Over time, the fertility of her land started to decline and her crop yields diminished with each season. Her farmland has been overrun by weeds.

Access to modern quality farm inputs is the pillar of agricultural revolution. However, in Kenya, a developing country, fertilizer and seed allocation by the government is inadequate to meet the needs of farmers.

Juhudi Kilimo, which has partnered with Kiva, has ventured into the affairs of smallholder farmers in Kenya, who can attest that there has been a significant improvement of input availability.

Miriam is requesting a loan from Juhudi Kilimo in order to buy fertilizer and high-quality seeds to improve her crop farm. With this loan, she expects to increase her crop production, improve her harvest, and earn a higher income. This will eventually lead to an improvement in her living standards.

Miriam is confident that her next planting season will be good. She thanks the lenders wholeheartedly for their previous help and hopes to have their warm response again.

Please be inspired to lend. Kind lenders create hope for people around the world!
