Luz Marlene's story

Luz Marlene is 51 years of age. She is separated, and from that relationship she has six children; five are of age and one is 12 years old. They live in the canton of Montecristi, known for its rich precolonial culture and for its artisanry. The canton has been greatly impacted by covid 19, both financially and socially.

She is a hardworking woman who looks for the way to earn her living and all the more now, with this situation of the pandemic that has made everything very complicated.

Together with her children, she has a brick factory, making the materials used in the construction of houses. There, the same people who make the bricks later deliver them to merchants or straight to construction sites.

The pandemic has impacted them greatly. At the beginning the business declined, but now, currently, everything is getting back to normal. This loan is to buy firewood, sawdust, and palm fibers, which are the materials that they use to make the bricks.
