Maria Monserrate's story

Maria Monserrate is 49 years old, married, and has 3 children –two adults and a 7-year-old. Her husband is an artisan, and they live in the Montecristi canton, known for its rich pre-colonial culture and craftsmanship. This area has been both economically and socially affected by COVID-19.

She is a woman who works with her husband in order to get ahead, and even more so now that the pandemic has made their financial situation very tough. They have a brick factory (a material used in the construction of houses), where they make the bricks that they then deliver to merchants. They have been severely affected by the pandemic; their business collapsed at the beginning of it, but now everything is returning to normal.

This loan will be used to buy firewood, sawdust, and palm fiber, which are the materials used to make bricks.
