Alba Esmeralda's story

Alba Esmeralda and her family live in Portoviejo, a city affected by the 2016 Ecuador earthquake, which is now being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The city is rich in the production of vegetables, legumes, and tropical fruit for domestic consumption.

Alba Esmeralda sells products via catalogue from Yanbal (beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes, ladies accessories), assorted clothing for women, men and children, and various sizes, colors, and designs of sheets, etc. She sells these items from her home and by going door-to-door. She displays these products in a glass cabinet in her home where her clients come to purchase. Alba Esmeralda works three days a week for two to three hours a day, and she sells these items on a credit basis with weekly payments. During this global crisis, she has experienced economic difficulties because some of her clients were unable to pay as they lost employment, and others passed away.

This loan is to buy sheets, T-shirts, pants, shorts, etc. Her dream is to have her own store to continue her sales, and she hopes her family stays healthy.
