Chepngeno's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a biodigester to transform her farm into a sustainable business.

Chepngeno's story

Chepngeno has 5 children and lives in the rural region of Bomet. Her dream is to create a cost-effective, sustainable dairy farm to pass on to her children and even her future grandchildren.

Chepngeno is currently spending too much money on the propane required to heat the milk produced by her cows for pasteurization. With the Sistema Biobolsa biodigester, Chepngeno will reduce her reliance on expensive and non-renewable LP gas and agrochemical fertilizers by processing the manure from her cows to produce biogas and biofertilizer, helping both her wallet and the environment. This loan will help Chepngeno to install a 12 cubic meters biodigester that will pay for itself after an average of two years.

The resulting reduction in operating costs will allow her to better deal with the fluctuating and unpredictable milk prices and make it easier for Chepngeno and her kids to continue the generations-old tradition of dairy farming in Bomet.

This loan represents 76% of the price of the biodigester; the remaining part is paid directly by Chepngeno.
