Mary's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase firewood to stock up and resell, to increase her income while better providing for her customers.

Mary's story

Mary lives in a rural suburb near Port Vila's international airport. Her community is very small and relies on the agriculture and tourism industries. Unfortunately, during this pandemic, it has been hard for one to earn a stable income.

Mary is 66 years of age and is happily married with five grown up children. Her husband is unemployed and is a helping hand with the heavy lifting.

Mary has requested a loan to help her purchase more firewood to stock up so she can sell it to her valuable customers. She has seen the need for firewood in her community and with the added stock, it will increase her revenue, which she will use to build a house on another privately owned piece of land, located about 20 minutes drive from Port Vila.

This is Mary's third loan with South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd. She has been faithful in repaying her previous loans on time. Through her loans, Mary feels motivated to grow her business so she can become a successful businesswoman.
