A loan helped to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer to improve harvests of maize.

Merab's Group's story

Pictured above is Merab, who is often described as an extremely hardworking individual. She is 69 years old and has 5 children. As a group leader, she is representing 17 farmers in Teso District, Kenya.

Merab is returning this season to work with One Acre Fund because this means that she is able to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds, which is why she decided to join in the first place. Merab says that she is happy to have made that decision because, since she first joined in 2015, she has had a healthier life due to better nutrition, which has improved her day-to-day life significantly. Merab will use the profits from this season to send her children to school.

The group will use this loan to purchase seeds and fertilizer to plant 12.5 acres. The group will also receive one solar light.
