Yulisa Monserrate and her family live in Portoviejo, a city affected by the April 16, 2016 earthquake and now by Covid-19. The city is rich in production of vegetables, legumes, and tropical fruit for domestic consumption.

Yulisa Monserrate is a teacher. Now she gives classes via the internet from her home. In her free time, she sells assorted clothing for women, men, and children. sandals, costume jewelry, and sheets, and started selling school supplies. She works for two hours on the weekends and collects weekly.

She has had financial difficulties during the worldwide crisis. Her clients could not pay because they were unemployed, and others had died. At first, she could not sell, but now she is reactivating little by little, to continue generating income.
