A loan helped to buy sheep to resell.

Gie Gueum Sa Boop Group's story

At fifty-six years of age, Ndeye is responsible for the Gi Gueum Sa Boop Group, which means "believe in yourself" in the Wolof language. She has been a professional animal raiser for fifteen years. Ndeye is a widow and lives with her three children who all attend school and range in age between three and seventeen years old.

This loan is intended for all fourteen members of the group, including twelve women and two men to build up their sheep-raising businesses. Ndeye applied for a loan to make her business more productive in order to provide for her family's needs (medical fees, food, school fees...).

She stocks up at her region's weekly markets and sometimes in surrounding villages. In this way, after a few months of fattening, Ndeye resells her subjects in these same locations. It is with the profits generated from her business that she helps her husband to provide for the family's needs. Ndeye is often faced with problems in her business such as thefts or the death of certain individuals due to unsanitary conditions.
