Emmy's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to gain access to cost-efficient hybrid seeds and fertilizer for crop cultivation for this woman with a good credit history.

Emmy's story

Emmy, a repeat Kiva borrower, is 25 years old and lives in Molo, a town that was significantly affected by the 2007–8 Kenyan crisis when violence occurred. She is a mixed farmer who has farmed for the last few years.

Emmy was born into a family where farming skills were passed on from one generation to another. She did not have any other way of earning an income, so she chose to venture into farming. Through continuous involvement in crop and animal farming, Emmy is able to provide a meal for her family three times a day.

Due to various farming practices such as mono-cropping and continuous cropping, Emmy's soil has lost its fertility. She also suffers losses brought about by various pests and diseases.

Emmy is requesting this loan so that she can buy fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides to use on her farm. She believes that these inputs will help her improve her yield and therefore increase her income. She is confident that she will be able to repay her loan and expand her farm. This loan will surely empower this hardworking woman.
