Laisayani's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase a bigger freezer and initial stock of sausages, chicken, butter, fish, and other frozen goodies.

Laisayani's story

In the village of Navutu where very few houses have access to electricity, people hardly buy frozen goods such as meat, ice cream, ice cubes, etc. Laisayani's family is one of the very few that are fortunate enough to have access to electricity but living in an extended family can be very hard for the single mother of 3.

She lives with about 15 other family members in a wooden, four bedroom house and is able to send her children to school by selling freshwater prawns and fish which she sometimes catches. Because she hardly earns enough, Laisayani thought about more ways in which she can help her family financially and had the brilliant idea of making use of their electricity and selling frozen goods to her fellow villagers so she operates her business selling sausages, chicken feet, butter, and chicken.

Local villagers would come almost every day to buy from Laisayani but she has been running out of goods quickly as they do not have a large freezer. She hopes to be able to purchase one large enough to provide frozen goods for everybody without having to make a shopping trip almost every other day. The business had greatly helped her and her children and has also made things easier for her community members.
