Emma's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase a gas stove for her baking and parcel food.

Emma's story

Emma is a young mother of 2 who loves baking but has recently turned that hobby into a business when she saw that the local school canteen sells nothing but junk food to cater for students and teachers lunch and morning tea.

Every morning she wakes up at 5 am to bake delicious pies and cakes and also makes healthy food parcels on alternate days and delivers them to the school in time for recess at 10 am and stays until lunch at 12 pm.

She currently owns an electric oven and says that it is quite costly as her electricity bills are quite high and it usually takes longer to bake goods when compared to a regular gas oven. Because of this, her supply is usually low when compared to the demands of the students and teachers from the school.

She uses a primus stove to cook and hopes to be able to purchase a gas stove so she can do both baking and cooking in it and that would be like hitting two birds with one stone for her. Many parents rely on Emma to provide their children with healthy and affordable food and snacks as she is the only one from her community who has taken the initiative to look after their nutritional health.
