Mercy's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to gain access to cost-efficient hybrid seeds and fertilizer for crop cultivation for this woman with a good credit history.

Mercy's story

Mercy (27-year-old mom of 3 school-going children) is a smallholder farmer practicing dairy, sheep, and crop farming to make a living. Her husband is also a farmer, and together, they have lovely children. She enjoys farming, for it is her means of securing the basic necessities of life.

In the Kapsowar area of Kenya, where Mercy is from, most people depend on agriculture for a living. The people there live and work on small farms. Their biggest challenge is the huge deficit in access to agricultural inputs, meaning that farmers' yields and incomes are far below what they could be. Juhudi Kilimo has partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers in Kapsowar now can buy productive assets and important agricultural inputs for use on their farms.

Mercy is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs, such as seeds and fertilizer. Your loan will enable her to improve her production through use of quality farm inputs. This intervention will help her meet the increasing demand for food in the market. In the process, she'll be able to generate more income to repay the loan debt and elevate her family's quality of life. Mercy wants to start 2021 on a high note and on a good footing.
