Sope Mame Mor/ndoffene2 Group's story
The "SOPE MAME MOR" solidarity group was created in 2007, on the day the NDOFFENE2 village bank where it is based was inaugurated. The group is made out of 14 women, all from the same village. They are all married and mother to at least three children each. Their proximity encourages goodwill and cohesion within the group. The area where the village bank is located is very favorable to commerce thanks to the weekly markets, which facilitate the women's business such as the fattening of cattle and/or sheep, small-scale commerce, the production and sale of peanut oil, the sale of fresh fish, etc. Given this, most of the village's women devote their time to lucrative activities. The new loan would allow them to increase their self-financing level and expand their commerce and fattening activities. Mrs Mbossé N., standing at the far right of the photo with a yellow scard in hand, is 68-year-old and a mother of 6. She sells fresh fish and vegetables. This is her daily activity, and on market days she travels to the villages where said markets are located. Her goal is to help improve her family's living conditions. Mrs Sokhna D. was unavailable due to a sick relative and was therefore not present for the picture.
