Maria Raquel's story

Maria Raquel and her family live in Santa Ana. This is a beautiful valley with corn and rice crops, livestock, and a varied cuisine with traditional dishes such as 'viches' [drinks] made from corn and 'tongas' [stuffed banana leaves], etc. She also has fresh water spa.

Maria Raquel and her husband have a place in the center of the city. They sell cell phones and make repairs and everything having to do with technical services for cell phones. They sell replacement parts and cases for the phones.

She also sells Avon (beauty products, cosmetics, perfume, and women's accessories) and products from La Union La Gran Cadena S.A. Unigranca. She works three days a week for two or three hours a day. She leaves her products on credit and collects weekly. During this world crisis she has experienced financial difficulties. Her customers are not able to pay because they have been left without employment, and others have passed away.

The beginning the health crisis was very bad for her because she was not able to sell. However, she is now reactivating the business little by little in order to continue generating income in this way. Her dream is to have her own place in order to continue with her sales and for her family to be in good health. With this loan she will buy replacement parts for cell phones.
