Nelfida Del Carmen's story

Nelfida Del Carmen, 53, is a young micro-entrepreneur who lives in the city of Cartagena with her spouse and daughter.

Nelfida has had an aptitude for sales since she was a child. She started selling merchandise, then expanded her market and set up a store to sell soft drinks and food in her home. Eight years ago she saw the opportunity for a drugstore because there wasn't one in her area and she decided to start this business with her savings.

Her business has grown little by little, expanding the range of products she sells. She also sells paper goods and notions. This job has generated her excellent profits and benefits. Thanks to this business she has another store and also has managed to build three rental apartments in her home, thus improving her quality of life.

This entrepreneur's sales were affected by the restrictions imposed by the pandemic and she had to resort to her savings to help with the family expenses. Thanks to the economic reactivation her sales are increasing, so she's looking to mitigate the impact of Covid-19.

Currently she's applying for a Kiva loan, her first financing from Fundación Santo Domingo, to invest in a purchase of diapers, alcohol, bandages, cotton, syrups, drops, creams, personal-care products, etc.

This homemaker wants to capitalize and strengthen her business, so she wants to have a greater volume of inventory and be able to satisfy the needs of all her customers.

Support her with her loan; it will be a success.
