Fatmata's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! Fatmata is a 54-year-old client from the Waterloo branch. She is married and has three children between the ages of 17 and 31. Two of her children are in school. Fatmata started her business in order to support her family.

She manages a food business and also sells cookery to her customers in the community. Fatmata has been in business for the past seven years. Her other source of income is derived from her husband’s business. Her main challenge is dealing with occasional slow sales during this time of COVID-19.

Fatmata requested a loan from BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase foodstuffs such as oil, rice, pepper, onions, tomatoes, palm oil, vegetables, ground nuts, fish, chicken, and other assorted items to increase her business. She says that the extra income that results from this will loan will be used to improve her business and provide for her family’s welfare. In the future, she would like to establish her business on a larger scale. She expresses her thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
