Fatmata's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 45-year-old Fatmata from Waterloo branch. She is married with five children between the ages of 10 and 23, and one of them is attending school. She started this business to support herself and her family.

Fatmata runs a retail business and sells materials, cotton and other assorted items. She has been in this business for the past 12 years. Her other source of income comes from her husband’s business. Her main challenge is slow sales sometimes during this COVID-19 pandemic.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase cotton materials, palm oil and other assorted items to increase her business. Fatmata says that the extra income from this loan will help to improve her business and her family's welfare. In the future, she would like to be established to a larger scale. She says thanks to Brac and Kiva for their support.
