Jessy's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to expand her business and increase the size and range of her stock.

Jessy's story

Jessy is a 28-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her husband and two children in the Samfya district in Zambia. Jessy operates a business selling maize (corn). Her business has been thriving since she received her first Kiva loan, which empowered her to replenish her inventory and increase her sales. Now, Jessy is requesting a second loan to expand her business by buying more bags of maize in order to meet her customer’s needs. She plans to use the profit she earns to support her family and vulnerable people in her community. Jessy will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering three hours per week as a CAMFED Transition Guide. She will support other young women who are just entering CAMFED’s alumnae organization, CAMA, by delivering an orientation course with weekly sessions on topics including health, financial literacy and career guidance.
