Eng's story

Eng is 45 years old and is a responsible mother of three children. All of her children are attending school and usually spend their spare time to help Eng with her retail business. She has a small convenience store in her village in Krong Kampong Cham district, Kampong Cham province, Cambodia.

She sells various types of household products, snack foods, sweets, and spices. She works hard to complete her daily tasks because she is eager to improve her standard of living someday. Eng earns approximately 5 USD per day. Because of the phenomenon of Covid-19, her income from selling groceries produce are decreased because the customers in her community have reduced demand, affecting prices and making Eng meet with loss of income-earning opportunities.

The price of grocery products are cheaper than usual. The income from her retail business is barely enough to cover her daily expenses, so she wants to purchase more groceries to supplement her earnings. Since she has inadequate capital, Eng is requesting a loan of 6,000,000 KHR to purchase merchandise to sell in her store, such as spices, shampoos, soaps, canned goods, snack foods, soft drinks and miscellaneous products. She hopes to fill her store with groceries that will satisfy her customers’ needs.

Through the income she will earn from her business, she will provide her children's basic needs in school and daily food. Eng sends thanks to all lenders for support and promises to pay the loan back on time as scheduled.
