Sokny's story

Sokny, age 27, is married and has two children. She lives with her family in the area of Angkor Borei district, Takeo province. Sokny has been involving in agriculture and her husband is a fisherman who works hard at the river. Sometimes her husband faces storms while fishing, and he has to strive with this bad environment to catch fish to sell so he can earn additional income to support the family's living needs.

Her husband has duties in fishing such as steering vessels and operating navigational instruments; putting fishing equipment into the water as well as manning anchors and tow equipment, according to the fishing method used, fishing gear and other on-board equipment; performing minor repairs; removing catches from fishing equipment and measuring them to ensure compliance with legal size; pulling and guiding nets; and collecting fish to be sold at market.

Due to a shortage of funds, Sokny is asking for a loan to buy construction supplies to renovate her old home. She hopes that, through the help of the loan, she can provide everyone in her family with a suitable place to live and comfortable living conditions. The loan will provide funds to purchase construction supplies such as bricks, cement, zinc and other necessary materials, as well as to pay for labor costs.

She believes that through her hard work and perseverance she will be able to attain a better standard of living someday.
