Norma Cecilia's story

Norma Cecilia is a 59-year-old microentrepreneur who resides in the municipality of Suan. She lives there with her spouse and children. For 10 years, she has had a business selling lunches such as soup, sancocho, special rice, pasta, etc. She is known for her reliability and the flavors of her foods. She's known as "la mella" [the twin]. She started this business because she has enjoyed working ever since she was little. Her parents didn't have the resources for school, and she began working as a child. This business has put food on the table for her children. With this business, she has been able to send them to school. Maybe it's not a life of luxury, but they've always had what they needed. But due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, her work was affected because of biosecurity issues, and her income plummeted. For this reason, she joined the Atlántico Responde program to request her first Kiva loan with Fundación Santo Domingo for the purpose of investing in the purchase of pots, tables, plates, and chairs. Support her with a business loan.
