Siaka's story

Siaka is a Rwandan and experienced refugee entrepreneur who owns and runs a retail grocery store business in Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya. He arrived in Kenya in 2016 and started the business a few years later to provide himself with a stable means of livelihood. He is also a certified WFP (World Food Program) food vendor for the refugees within the camp.

The business has considerably grown over the past few months and continues to build itself a strong base of loyal customers with its good reputation. It is located in a strategic location and fetches a good number of both refugee and host community clients regularly.

Siaka actively underwent AEC’s business training program focused on financial management and increasing sales. He was able to successfully apply the skills acquired from the training in running the business, which now boasts improved cashflows and efficiency.

He is requesting a loan to restock the store with more food items to support wholesale distribution. The financing will enable Siaka to continue to serve the community with more consumption options, while at the same time allowing him the opportunity grow his business.
