Ushirika Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy some previously worn shoes which will strengthen her initial capital.

Ushirika Group's story

Madame Angeline is a client of Hekima IMF and chairs the USHIRIKA village group. She is 34 years old, married, and the mother of 8 children, 3 of whom are in school. The other 5 stay at home due to lack of resources. Her partner is unemployed.

Madame Angeline sells previously-worn shoes. She started her business 13 years ago with start-up funds she received from her AGR [income-generating activities]. Later she became involved with the Hekima program to support her business, which has grown gradually since then. With this new loan she plans to buy previously-worn shoes, which will strengthen her working capital. The obstacle she faces is a lack of customers.

Madame Angeline would like her children to continue their education and be able to feed her family. Finally, she would like to thank Hekima and its partners for the support they have shown to owners of businesses that have no monetary value during this global Covid-19 crisis. The photo shows only the leader of the group in compliance with social distancing restrictions due to Covid-19.
