Uwezo Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy 7 bales of second-hand clothes, which will strengthen her capital.

Uwezo Group's story

Madam Marie-Jeanne is a client of the microfinance institution ‘Hekima’ and presides over the village group “Uwezo”. She is 56 years old, married, and has 6 children, 4 of whom are still in school and 2 who have finished. Her partner is a plumber and she sells second-hand clothes for a living.

She started this business 12 years ago with start-up capital from her husband. She later involved the Hekima programme to support her business, during which it gradually evolved. With this new loan, she is going to buy 7 bales of second-hand clothes, which will strengthen her capital. Her business faces some challenges due to a lack of customers.

She would like to continue being able to feed her family and wants her children to continue studying. Lastly, she would like to thank Hekima and its partners for the support given to owners of businesses that cannot be exchanged for cash in this global COVID-19 crisis. The photo is only of the group leader because of COVID-19 in compliance with social distancing measures.
