A loan helped to purchase additional food items as stock for the store.

Abdirahman's story

Abdirahman, a refugee in Kakuma Refugee Camp, is a skilled entrepreneur with years of experience in business. He owns and runs a retail grocery store business at the camp which is strategically located to serve his fellow refugees and is also convenient to the surrounding host community.

The business has grown steadily over the years and continues to build itself a strong base of loyal customers with its good reputation. Abdirahman is also a certified WFP (World Food Program) food vendor for the refugees, and his store provides employment to five individuals.

Abdirahman was an active participant in AEC’S business training program and was able to apply the skills learnt in effectively managing his business, which now boasts improved cashflows and efficiency. He is requesting a loan to increase his working capital for purchase of additional food items to stock in the store. The financing will enable Abdirahman to continue to serve the community with more consumption options, while at the same time allowing him the opportunity to grow his business even further.
