A loan helped to add more products to his grocery store business.

Ibrahim's story

Ibrahim is a refugee entrepreneur from Sudan who owns and runs a retail food store business at the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. He arrived in Kenya in 2014 and soon started the business to provide himself with a stable means of livelihood. Ibrahim is also a certified WFP (World Food Program) food vendor for the refugees within the camp.

The business has grown steadily over the years and continues to build itself a strong base of loyal customers with its good reputation. It is located in a strategic location and fetches a good number of both refugee and host community clients on a regular basis. The growth experienced has seen Ibrahim employ three staff who help in running the store.

Ibrahim actively underwent AEC’s business training program, focused on financial management and increasing sales. He was able to successfully apply the skills acquired from the training in running the business, which now boasts improved cashflows and efficiency. He is requesting a loan in order to increase his working capital to add food stock for the store. The financing will enable Ibrahim to continue to serve the community with more consumption options, while at the same time allowing him the opportunity grow his business.
