Fatuma's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to restock her store with more food.

Fatuma's story

Fatuma is a refugee of Somalian descent who runs a food stall and fish business at the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. She fled violence in her native country, and after resettling in the camp, started her businesses. Fatuma is a single mother of ten, and as the family’s sole breadwinner, the shop has been providing a stable source of income for her family.

The food stall has steadily grown over the past few years and continues to build itself a loyal base of customers at the camp. It is located in a strategic location and conveniently serves both her fellow refugees and the host community with affordable food items.

Fatuma actively underwent holistic entrepreneurship trainings with AEC geared towards financial management and increasing sales. She was able to apply the skills learned to managing her own business.

Fatuma is now requesting a loan to enable her to expand her business even further. A loan will allow her to stock more food and ensure she continues providing the community with more grocery options while supporting her business.
