Ruth's Group's story
Ruth, who appears in the photo, is a group leader who is representing nine farmers from Matete District, Kenya. She a mother of eight children and known in her community as a very trustworthy person.
Ruth joined One Acre Fund in 2012 because she wanted to earn enough to send her children to school. Since joining the program, she says that her life has improved, especially because she has been able to consistently feed her family. With her profits from the upcoming harvesting season, Ruth plans to save more money for the future.
Among the farmers in Ruth’s group, a total of five acres of land will be planted using the maize seeds and fertilizer received with this loan.
