01_Santessou Group's story

Created in August 2008, this group is made up of five resourceful and courageous women who live in the same district. They are happy as neighbours, friends and mutual support systems. They manage their credit well and they work in several income generating activities. The principal activity is commerce.

Mrs. Anta is 50 and is the leader. She is on the right in the photo with her hand raised. She is married with five children of whom three girls and two boys who all attend school.

Mrs. Anta sells textiles and shoes; she buys her stock at the markets and makes her sales in a popular tourist spot and in her neighbourhood from her home.

With her loan, she will buy wax fabrics, artwork and shoes made locally. She makes a satisfactory income for she has a good clientele to whom she offers high quality products at reasonable prices.

She will use her profits to reinforce her business and to participate in the management of the household.
