01_Diogo Darou Group's story

This group was created in January 2011 and is made up of 10 women who live in the same district and have close ties of family and friendship. This is their first loan from the institution. Their main activity is commerce.

Mms. Fatimata is the president. She is aged 31 and is standing on the far right with her hand raised. She is married with four children of whom one daughter aged three. Her sons go to school.

Mrs. Fatimata sells different fabrics that she buys at the markets of a town in the capital. She makes her sales on the side of the road in her village. She has six years of good experience in this business.

With her loan, she will buy 30 units of wax fabric, 30 metres of embroidered fabric, and 30 metres of Getzner damask cloth that she will resell making a profit. Her business is doing well for there are not many people selling these goods.

She will use her profits to reinforce her business and to rent fields to do some market gardening. She will also pay her dues to the savings group, and help with the family expenses (food, school fees...). She also plans to build her house.
