Fidia Del Carmen's story

Fidia Del Carmen is 43 years old and lives with her spouse in the city of Cartagena. She began her business with the support of her family. From a very young age, she learned the art of sewing and perfected it due to studying this profession. Fidia works sewing and selling clothing: sweaters, shorts, blouses, pants, and more.

This microentrepreneur combined her intellect and business skills and became independent; with her own capital she purchased her machine. Then she rented a retail space where she currently has her sewing shop and her customers have increased thanks to the delicate finishing of her sewing. In addition, Fidia contributes to the direct and indirect creation of jobs.

Due to the pandemic, her sales were affected and, with them, her income. Thanks to the economic reopening, her sales are increasing. For this, she seeks to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 and is currently applying for a Kiva loan, her first financing through Fundación Santo Domingo, to invest in the purchase of fabric, buttons, thread, elastic, etc.

This microentrepreneur is hopeful that her business will be strengthened and, with it, her working capital, increasing her sales volume to improve her profit margins. Support her, she will have success in her new business idea.
