Leah's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to hire more labor to help her on her farm, so that she can improve her produce and make more income to support her children.

Leah's story

Leah is a smallholder farmer with clear goals of what she wants to achieve in 2019. She is always well-ordered and focused. She is a beautiful and humble farmer. She adores her lovely family and will do anything to keep them from going to bed hungry. Leah is from the Bungoma area of Kenya. Every day of the week, she works towards the benefits of her family. She has a beautiful farm where she plants various crops and also keeps dairy cows. After learning about Juhudi Kilimo, Leah has applied for this loan to hire more labor to help her on her farm so that she can improve her produce and make more income to support her children.

Unlike most microfinance organizations in Kenya that have imposed very complicated procedures for funds acquisition, thereby discouraging smallholder farmers, Juhudi Kilimo is working closely with Kiva to make loan acquisition for a smallholder farmer easy and convenient. Through this intervention, movement of funds in the rural communities has increased, thereby alleviating rural poverty.
