A loan helped to build a safe latrine at home.

Sokhorn's story

Sokhorn is a 51-year-old, married woman and a humble villager living in Kaoh Thum district with her seven children. Some of her children are married and live separately. At home, Sokhorn has been operating a small convenience shop offering many types of fruit to local people in her community, including durian, longan, bananas, mango, rambutan, jackfruit and other popular fruits in Cambodia. She makes a suitable income of 5 USD per day, from which she can cover her daily costs. With the hard situation in supporting the family's expenses, few of Sokhorn’s children decided to work as garment workers at the small factory and spend more than 8 hours everyday at the factory to earn an additional income. As of now, Sokhorn is requesting a loan to build a safe latrine at home. In this way, she hopes to increase the value of her home and improve sanitation, ensuring healthy living conditions to safeguard the health of her family and protect the environment. With this loan support, Sokhorn is able to purchase construction supplies, such as bricks and cement, to build a safe latrine and pay for labor costs. Sokhorn sends thanks to all lenders who contribute their funds to help a poor fellow like her.
