Lalah's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 43-year-old Lalah from Wilberforce. She is married with three children between the ages of 10 and 28 years old and one of them is attending school. She started this business to be independent and care for her family's welfare.

Lalah runs a retail business and sells foodstuffs, such as fish, onions, maggi and other assorted items. She has been in this business for six years. Her family's other source of income comes from her husband’s business. Her main challenge is slow sales sometimes during this COVID 19 pandemic.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase fish, chicken, palm oil, rice, onions, maggi, oil, pepper and other assorted items to increase her business. Lalah says that the extra income from this loan will help to improve her business and take care of her family. In the future, she would like to build her business on a larger scale. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
