A loan helped to buy more cereals to sell to her customers to make more profit to support her family.

Sylivia's story

Living and working in Nyamira has been challenging, especially for Sylivia, a 33-year old mother to three children. She is a humble woman who has worked hard to establish herself. She earns an income selling her farm produce, such as crops and dairy. She also earns a little income from her small businesses. Through these activities, she is able to give her family at least two meals per day.

Despite the prolonged dry seasons and frequent incidences of pests and diseases, which are very intense, Sylivia has always looked forward to future accomplishment and success. Sylivia has decided that the best way to boost her income is to improve her farm's productivity. She chose to run a side cereal business, which is one of the most profitable in the Nyamira region. Sylivia has requested a loan to buy more cereals to sell to her customers to make more profit to support her family. Sylivia believes that she will be able to make additional profit by increasing her cereal stock. This loan is an opportunity that Sylivia never had before. Her irregular income and lack of collateral security were the main issues preventing her from accessing a loan from commercial banks. Thanks to Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva, the lives of Sylivia and her family will be changed for the better. Sylivia is so happy with this gesture of goodwill in her life.
